Biography

Nikolaos Tiriakidis is CEO of Componous, a Greek photonics startup building Fiber Bragg Grating interrogators from design through assembly, and also serves in quality assurance management at B&T Composites, a composite structures manufacturer. He leads Componous’s work applying optical fiber sensing to marine, industrial, and defense structures. Componous designs and assembles its own Fiber Bragg Grating interrogators in house, and deploys them on real structures rather than in a lab setting. This talk walks through live case studies, including an at sea proof of concept aboard a bulk carrier and sensing technology validated with Naval Group, showing how FBG sensing moves from a scietific principle to a working product. We will hand off to Femtika to cover how the Laser Nanofactory platform enables the precision manufacturing behind these sensors.
