On 21 October 1983, the General Conference on Weights and Measures adopted value for the speed of light.
On the occasion of this anniversary, every year hundreds of activities are voluntarily organised over around the world. The purpose is to promote photonics and inform the general public on what are photonics technologies, why they are important, and generally support this key-enabling technology.

The 3rd International Conference “Biophotonics-Riga” will follow the traditions of the first two conferences held in 2013 and 2017. It will take place in the brand new campus of University of Latvia. Invited and regular oral reports will be presented along with the poster session where the best student poster will be awarded.

* Optical clinical diagnostics and monitoring
* Skin optics and spectroscopy

The Baltic Photonics Cluster news and plans are published in the 1st quarterly newsletter of 2019. Link.
The 4th quarterly newsletter of the cluster is online, having information on some new developments of the members and well as past activities of the quarter.
