Development of photonic technologies and carrying out studies of photon-matter interactioons. A number of prototype devices for applications in biophotonics have been developed (optical distant heart rate monitors, optical skin diagnostics devices, etc.). Optical methods and sensors for environmental monitoring (e.g. super-sensitive Hg detector) are developed and implemented; a project on optical night-time atmosphere pollution monitoring is underway. Theoretical studies on atoms in strong laser fields and on nature of photons are performed, as well.
